Dear Friend:
The goal of Starting Over Again is to reduce the recidivism rate of female ex-offenders. Programs such as the food program, transportation to work program, parenting classes, basic computer classes, personal finance classes, small business information, and referrals to the Work in Texas program can change lives for the better.
Kimberly Harrison knows first hand about the issues that affect ex-offenders trying to re-enter society. She stated that it took about two years to get to a point in her life where she could deal with life's issues with out falling back into old habits. She stated that if the information she obtained on her own was available all in one place upon release it would have been an easier and more stable transition back into society. However, continued research, outreach, and employment is essential to help reduce recidivism. This affects over 50% of people released by the prison system in Texas, as stated by the Federal Bureau of Statistics in 1998. Recidivism has gotten worse each year.
Today, you can make an immediate difference in the life of a battered female ex-offender. Each $ 1.00 you send helps fund services listed. The program will begin with approximately 6 to 8 women with goal of eventually reaching hundreds.I hope we can count on you to help. Please send the most generous gift you can. Thank you for your support.
With grateful appreciation,
Felecia Franklin
Secretary
P.S.: So that as many women and children can be helped this season, please send your gift to Starting Over Again in care of Kimberly Harrison so that it can have maximum impact. Thank you in advance for you kind support!PAYPAL COMING SOON
